The Villa

Inside

Entering the villa through its glass fronted double doors, you come into a large open living room and dining area underneath a barrel shaped ceiling of Puglian limestone.  Here and throughout, the floors of the villa are made of the finest stone.  The kitchen in comprehensively equipped to a professional standard and will satisfy even the most exacting chef.  At each end of the villa is a master bedroom with exceptional bathroom fittings.  Each opens onto secluded private garden areas, each with the ultimate luxury of an outdoor shower and outdoor seating.

Outside

Villa Vigna opens directly onto a fabulous infinity pool, designed almost as a lake adjoining the house.  Beside the pool you will find an outdoor living, kitchen and dining area in which to enjoy either a lazy lunchtime or the long Puglian summer evenings.  The villa has wonderful views over fields and olive groves and is surrounded by beautifully created gardens, including a unique cactus rock garden.

Exploring the Area

The house is set in the much sought-after Valle d’Itria, and land of rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards, and dark red soils surrounded by ancient dry stone walls.  At the four points of the compass are the captivating white-painted hill towns of Ostuni, Ceglie Messapica, Cisternino and Martina Franca, each with its own style and personality.  This part of Puglia can plausibly claim the best food in Italy.  There are six Michelin starred restaurants within a 30 minute radius, and those are arguably not the best in the area.  There is a choice of beaches on the Adriatic and Ionian coasts, one about 25 minutes away, the other perhaps 40.  Neither coastline is developed with hotels, nor will you find sardine-style rows of sunbeds as elsewhere in Italy.  Instead, you will enjoy beachside restaurants and bars, sand dunes and the clearest water in the country.  For the energetic, Lecce is a glorious Baroque town, dubbed the ‘Florence of the South,’ Egnazia is an important archaeological site from Roman times and earlier, and exquisite medieval cathedrals and castles from the Crusader period and before line the coast.
